Matt Lauer and wife Annette welcomed their third child, a son named Thijs (pronounced "Tice"), on Tuesday.


Today spokesperson Megan Kopf said:

The baby was born this morning at 9:37 a.m. in New York City. He weighed 7 lbs., 4 oz.,



Mom, Dad and baby are all doing well.




The baby's name is a common Dutch name.


A source said:

Annette is Dutch and in following with her heritage, the baby was given a Dutch name,




This is the third child for the Matt Lauer, 48, and his wife Annette, 41, they also have a son Jack, 5 and a daughter Romy, 3.

Jessica Simpson has Lost Her Voice

Jessica Simpson has reportedly cancelled a series of promotional commitments after losing her voice in New York.


Today host Matt Lauer announced on the air that Jessica Simpson's live concert in New York City's Rockefeller Plaza had been re-scheduled for Friday. However, Jessica is expected to stop by the NBC morning show on Wednesday for a brief appearance.


Jessica Simpson's rep, Rob Shuter said:

Jessica has lost her voice on the eve of her album release. We hope she can recover. The timing could not have been worse.




A source close to Jessica Simpson said:

If she does not observe vocal rest, she could lose her voice forever,



Her party is (Tuesday) night. If she goes to the party, she won't be able to talk.

Matt Lauer's wife Annette is expecting her third child.


Matt Lauer, 48, confirmed the news in an interview with Sunday's New York Times magazine in a story about his soon-to-be cohost, Meredith Vieira. He and Annette, 40, are already parents to son Jack, 5, and daughter Romy, who turns 3 in October.


Matt Lauer told the Times magazine:

I was on Today for five years before I had children,



And back then the job took up a larger slice of the pie graph of my life than was healthy. When I had kids, that immediately changed. It flipped.
