It has been reported that Joel Madden is dating Nicole Richie after recently splitting from actress and singer Hilary Duff.
A friend of Joel Madden's told In Touch Weekly:

Nicole Richie, whose last public relationship was with her childhood friend, Brody Jenner, met up with Joel Madden at Hollywood hangout, Teddy's on December 2.
Nicole Richie and the Good Charlotte singer have been secretly dating for a few weeks, according to Us Weekly.
The next night, Sunday December 3rd, Nicole Richie joined Joel Madden for dinner at the Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel with his brother, Benji and his girlfriend Sophie Monk.
