Shakira dominated the seventh Latin Grammy ceremony in New York on Thursday.


Her four awards were for album of the year and best female pop vocal album for Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 and song and record of the year for "La Tortura," her duet with Alejandro Sanz.


Other multiple winners at Madison Square Garden included the Puerto Rican reggaeton group Calle 13, whose three prizes included best new act, and Argentine rock star Gustavo Cerati, who won for best rock song for "Crimen" and best rock vocal album for Ahi Vamos.


Other winners included Mexican singer and accordion player Julieta Venegas, who won best alternative album for her Limon y Sal.


The best tango album winner was the self-titled disc by Cafe de los Maestros, whose Argentine producer, Gustavo Santaolalla, won an Oscar this year for his score for Brokeback Mountain. His latest film score is for the Brad Pitt movie Babel.


Performers at the ceremony included Ricky Martin, Andrea Bocelli and Shakira, who stole the show with her red-hot rendition of "La Tortura."
