Saturday, Maria Sharapova won her first U.S. Open, beating Justine Henin-Hardenne.


Maria Sharapova's last gram slam was at Wimbledon in 2004.


Maria Sharapova said:

I experienced it two years ago, and I knew that I wasn't done,



I had a lot more in me.




Maria Sharapova, 19, wore a slinky black tennis dress ringed with sparkles, and a black bow in her hair for the final.


During her comments to the crowd after winning, Maria Sharapova thanked tennis legend Billie Jean King for her work for women in tennis, including pushing for equal prize money.


Maria Sharapova earned $1.7 million for her victory on Saturday.
